when you must lay at last
under a graven stone,
your soul has passed,
and under the cask,
laying bleached and alone.
Where are the maidens,
sent to guide you on?
Where are the sirens,
who sing of you in song?
And your friends,
who were to come along?
Is it sorrow's chill,
that placed you under a hill,
for sins you must atone?
Or is it just fright,
as quietly the Knight,
hones steel against your stone?
Summon those maidens,
brought to lead you on,
bring forth the sirens,
you long for their song,
to gather your friends,
who would do you no wrong.
